Here you can find devotional writing in the form of blog posts and poetry, content on trancework and divination, witchy book reviews, and other information on my magical practice. This is a space dedicated to my beloved Bast, though I am certainly prone to chatting about other cherished deities and spirits found in my constellation of devotion.

These pages are filled with gnosis because I spend a lot of my time otherwise in scholarly mode. I created this space to let loose a little on that, and to enjoy the lovely, worldly-otherworldly experience of my divine relationships.

Bast is of the Ancient Egyptian gods also known as the Netjeru. Similarly to her companions in the pantheon, she has a number of domains that are distinct and overlapping. These are the domains I honour: Life, life's pleasures, the heart, and healing Grace and joy Protection, justice, and the home Music, dance, beauty, and love Cats and felines. Women and children The sun, moon, light Perfumes and ointments Thresholds, transitions, and initiations

Some of her ancient symbols and tools include the sistrum, the ankh, the aegis, the uraeus, the Eye of Ra, the solar disk, perfumes and ointments, the menat, and alabaster jars.

Bast is typically known as a cat-goddess though she also has a history as a lioness and lion-headed goddess. Her energy is uplifting and bright, noticable when she enters a room. She is a fun-loving goddess who has a sense of humour. At the same time, she is a fierce protector who will not be pushed aside while determined.

She can be viewed as a protector of the home, guarding thresholds and ensuring a good night's rest. She is also a warrior on her father's barque as he travels through the Duat each night and defeats the serpent. She is a bringer of light and sunrays at dawn and also known as a nurturer of the deceased.

Her duality is one of the most intriguing elements of her existence.
